HKADF Fashion Design Competition 2014



As a fashion capital, Hong Kong has been a nurturing ground for world renowned fashion designers. In order to propel the trend forward, the fashion industry is continuously in need for new creative designers. Hence, the objective for the Hong Kong Art & Design Festival is to provide a platform for young emerging designers to showcase their talents as well as to provide a dialogue opportunity for industry practitioners.

• No limitation on number of contestants.
• Each contestant may only enter 1 category with no more than 6 works.
• No refund of application fee at any circumstance.

Calandar of Events

Payment Methods
Participants may pay by cash or cheque at any Hong Kong Communication Art Centre in person. Cheques are to be made payable to “Hong Kong Communication Art Centre Limited”. Bank transfer can also be made at HSBC with account number 047-671813-838. Please submit application together with transfer receipt.

Submission Criteria

• Local participants should submit an application form along with colour A4 illustrations by mail or in person to any Hong Kong Communication Art Centre. Front and back of design should be visible in illustrations with design concept and fabric type stated.
• Mainland participants may submit through mail or email (hkadf@cac.edu.hk)
• Finalists are required to bring their finished design to the centre at Tin Hau for approval and to be advised by professional instructors.
• Approved works will be presented by models. Participants may bring their own model but he/she will need to participate in the HKADF Model Competition.

Deadline
Application deadline: 10th June, 2011
Finished product approval deadline: 27th July, 2011

Assessment Criteria
All designs that enter the final round are required to be made into real products and to be presented by models in the competition. Winners will be selected by professional judges.

Selection criteria are as follows:
1. Originality
2. Concept demonstration
3. Cutting and fabric usage
4. Visual presentatio

Awards and Prizes
Championship, First runner-up, Second runner-up, Most Creative and Best Visual Effect will be awarded in each category. All winners are entitled to a trophy and valuable prizes.

Regulations

1. Participants must agree on all regulations and ordinances applicable to the competition.
2. All works must be approved in order to present at the competition. Should there be any violation of regulation, the organizer reserves the right with regards to the admission of the participant.
3. Works submitted to previous competitions will not be eligible for this competition.
4. Any work suspected for plagiarism or copyright violation will be disqualified and participants bear full legal responsibility.
5. HKCAC is entitled to use all contents, images, submitted designs, and performance recordings for publicity purposes.
6. HKCAC reserves the ultimate right to change any competition regulation.
7. Although HKCAC will take extra while handling all entries, we will not be responsible for any damage or loss.

Final Competition
Competition for all categories will be on 9th August, 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
